Am I eligibles for the programme?
If you are a native English speaker you are in principle eligible for the programme. We are looking for people who are sociable and patient and would enjoy talking for up to 15 hours a day!
How do I apply for the programme?
First of all, have a look at the calendar section and select the dates for the programme you would like to attend. You should then fill-in the online application form. We will get in touch with you within a few days and have a short telephone interview with you (in English). Within a few more days we will confirm whether you have been accepted for the programme or not and give you appropriate instructions.
Who are the Spaniards that take part in the programme?
Most of them are professionals that need to improve their English because of their jobs. Others just have a personal interest in improving their English. They come from different parts of Spain and have lots of stories to tell!
What type of accommodation do you offer?
Volunteers are accommodated in double rooms, full board. If you come as a couple, you will both share the room. Otherwise, you will have the room to yourself.
What is the food like at the hotel?
There is a buffet breakfast. For lunch and dinner several main course options are offered, including desserts. There is also a specific vegetarian menu.
Will I have any free time?
You will have a few free hours every day: after lunch and after dinner. We will also go on a day tour one afternoon. See the programme in detail section for further information.
Is smoking permitted during the programme?
As a rule you are not allowed to smoke inside the hotel or any other enclosed areas. However smoking is permitted on the terraces and outdoor cafés. Please bear in mind that Spain is still a smoke-friendly country and there is a chance that you will encounter situations where people around you will smoke.
Can I bring my partner, spouse, friend or relative?
Yes, but both of you must take part in the programme. If you bring a companion you will both share in the same room. Nevertheless please bear in mind that you may not be able to have lunch or dinner together, and you could spend most of your day apart.
How much does it cost to take part in the programme?
The programme is free for native English speakers (volunteers). We will pay for your food and accommodation. We will also pick you up from Alicante airport or train station for programmes in Biar. We will pick you from Atocha train station in central Madrid for programmes in Extremadura. You do need to pay for your own plane / train ticket.
What do I need to bring with me?
You should bring comfortable, casual clothes. You can also bring swimming gear if you plan on using the outdoor swimming pool (weather permitting!). You should also bring sunglasses. Of course you can bring your camera if you want to, and the hotel has free wireless Internet access so you can also bring a laptop / tablet. You should also bring all medication you may need during your stay. However there are some pharmacies in the area should you forget something (but please note that there could be medications you take that may not be found in a Spanish pharmacy).
